Pirates released the vessel Belgian

Two months after the capture of a Belgian dry cargo ship Pompei Somali pirates released the ship and its crew, said the Prime Minister of Belgium.

According to the officials for the release of the vessel and its crew of 10 members , which includes Captain Dutch, Belgian, two, three Filipinos and four Croatians were paid a ransom.

bulk carrier Pompei was captured April 18, at 150 kilometers north of the Seychelles. This is the first Belgian ship, stolen by Somali pirates. It was attacked on the way from Dubai, where it was involved in the construction of artificial islands, in South Africa.

Belgian Defense Minister Pieter De Crem said that 10 pirates released the vessel on Sunday morning – at the the next day after a plane from the sea to board the Pompei was dropped a ransom in cash.

According to Belgian authorities, the money has been granted an insurance company, serving vessel, and the government participated in negotiations.

Head of Crisis Center of the Government of Belgium Jaak Raes said the buyout was the only way to release the vessel.

J. Raes added: We had around 160 telephone calls, and all this time discussed the redemption.
