U.S. President said that before making a decision about sending or not more military wants to approve a strategy for war with guarantees of success and only take a decision after careful consideration.

Obama has approved a new strategy for Afghanistan in March that placed emphasis on the training of security forces in that country, but since then violence has continued to increase.

As part of that strategy included sending 21,000 more troops, that by the end of this year will increase U.S. military presence in Afghanistan to 68,000 men, the highest quota since the war began in 2001.

The U.S. president met Tuesday in the House White with NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, for consultations on Afghanistan.

While Rasmussen did not want to compromise on increased European participation in the mission, said the allies remain in Afghanistan as long as is necessary for success.

Rasmussen also expressed his support for Obama's position and considered before making a decision on the troops is necessary to determine which is going to do with them.
