Israeli president called on Abbas to stay
Israeli President Shimon Peres called on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to reconsider its decision and to present the candidacy for another term in elections in January, transmits radio Freedom .
Speaking Tel Aviv, Mr. Peres said that Abbas was one of those who signed the 1993 agreement in Oslo, for which the Palestinian territories have autonomy, and urged the Palestinian leader to stay in power and to seek dialogue with Israel.
Abbas refused to participate in scheduled for January 24 elections, saying that his decision was due to the lack of progress in the peace process in the Middle East. Earlier, Palestinian leader expressed support for Secretary General of the League of Arab States Amr Moussa.
