World stock markets fall as fears grow Greece
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 213.04 points, or 1.9% to 10991.99. It was the most dramatic decline for the index since February 4, when it fell 268.37 points, also on concerns about debt problems in Europe. Afghan police have mistakenly killed UN employees: agency
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – UN investigators believe that the Afghan police mistakenly shot dead at least three UN workers in a Taliban attack in October 2009, an official said Monday the agency. Susana Malcorra, an important official of UN peacekeepers, made the remark at a briefing on an investigation committee of United Nations on a Taliban attack on October 28 at a residence in Kabul, which ended with the death of five employees. The official described unclear circumstances in which the attackers Taliban and Afghan security forces were dressed in police uniforms identical. It was a “situation very, very chaotic in the middle of the night,” said Malcorra. Researchers believe that three UN workers were shot dead by Afghan police while trying to escape from the residence, he said. “The feeling is that it was friendly fire,” he said. Malcorra said security official of the UN Louis Maxwell, an American, had also killed by Afghan police who apparently mistook him for an insurgent. But he said it remained unclear how he died. Great Britain will compensate a former suspect in attacks on U.S.
LONDON (Reuters) – Britain agreed Friday to pay compensation to an Algerian pilot who was imprisoned for five months after being wrongly accused of involvement in the attacks of Septem1000ber 11, 2001. Lotfi Raissi was arrested
10 days after the attacks on New York and Washington, threatened with extradition to the United States and placed in a maximum security prison because U.S. law enforcement believed he was involved in the plot by Al Qaeda.

Raissi has tried to clear his name ever since, claiming that all the airlines excluded from possible employment and that his life was ruined. “This is one of the best days of my life. Chemical composition of ocean changes to “unprecedented rate”
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to global warming are also acidifying the oceans at the fastest pace in hundreds of thousands of years, said Thursday the National Research Council of the United States. “The chemical composition of the ocean is changing at an unprecedented pace and scale due to emissions of carbon dioxide produced by man,” the council said. “The pace of change than any that has occurred at least in the past hundreds of thousands of years,” he said. Increased ocean acidity corrodes coral reefs, interferes with the ability of some fish species found their colonies and can cause damage to commercial shellfish such as mussels and oysters, preventing them from forming their protective shells. Corrosion occurs when carbon dioxide is absorbed by the oceans and reacts with water to produce carbonic acid. Unless the carbon dioxide emissions are contained, the oceans become more acidic, the report said. Oceans absorb about one third of all carbon dioxide emissions generated by man, including fossil fuel burning, cement production and deforestation, he said. (continue reading…)

U.S. Congress may favor immigration to climate change
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Democrats in U.S. Congress this year could seek approval of a controversial amendment to the immigration law, a move that could damage the options to reach agreement on a draft climate change, advisers said Wednesday legislation.
